The closing date is 02 March 2026An opportunity has arisen for you to join our Emergency Gynaecology Unit team, we have both full time & part time vacancies. The Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EGU) is a 24-hour 7 day service and this role includes days, nights and weekends.
Our EGU provides rapid assessment and treatment for women and people experiencing acute gynaecological problems or complications in early pregnancy up to 20 weeks gestation. We work alongside a Consultant lead for EGU & medical team to support the patients coming through our service.
We deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centred care across emergency triage, early pregnancy assessment, and same-day gynaecology services.
We are seeking a motivated and caring Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. This is an excellent opportunity for both newly qualified and experienced nurses who are passionate about women's health and emergency care.
Applicants must have post-preceptorship experience. Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Main duties of the jobProvide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients presenting with acute gynaecology or early pregnancy concerns.
Carry out holistic assessment, triage and clinical observations, escalating according to NEWS2 and local protocols.
Support investigations including blood tests, pregnancy testing, ECGs, urinalysis and swabs.
Assist medical and nursing staff during transvaginal and abdominal ultrasound scans and intimate examinations.
Deliver sensitive care and emotional support to patients experiencing pregnancy loss or distressing symptoms.
Coordinate patient pathways including expectant, medical and surgical management of miscarriage.
Document care accurately using electronic patient record systems.
Work effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and timely care.
Participate in audits, training and ongoing service development.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP. Job responsibilitiesRegistered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and supportive approach.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to clinical changes.
Willingness to develop specialist skills in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology.
Previous experience in womens health, ED, SDEC, or acute care is desirable but not essential full training will be provided.
