Job Description

Job Title: Children's Home Manager

Location: Wigan, Greater Manchester

Setting: 3-Bed EBD Children's Home

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and resilient Children's Home Manager to lead a warm, nurturing 3-bed EBD children's home in Bury. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, child centred care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ensuring their safety, development, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong, inspirational leadership to a dedicated care team
  • Ensure the home meets and exceeds Ofsted standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and implement high-quality care plans tailored to each young person
  • Promote a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
  • Manage staffing, rotas, supervision, and professional development
  • Work effectively with placing authorities, families, and external professionals
  • Oversee safeguarding, risk management, and behaviour support strategies
  • Manage budgets and resources efficiently
About You
  • Proven experience managing or deputy-managing a children's home (EBD/SEMH preferred)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards)
  • Strong knowledge of children's residential legislation, safeguarding, and Ofsted frameworks
  • Confident leader with excellent communication and decision making skills
  • Calm, resilient, and child focused, with a genuine commitment to improving young lives
