About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Substance Misuse Lead Nurse to join our Regional Team in London on a 12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover). This role is home based with travel to our London sites: HMP Belmarsh, HMP Thameside, HMP Pentonville, HMP Brixton and HMP Wormwood Scrubs.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, core business hours.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract starting from April 2026 to April 2027.

Salary

This position is full time; you'll receive an annual salary up to £71,000 plus £4,000 car allowance per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As a Regional Substance Misuse Lead Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide nursing and Allied Health Professional (AHP) leadership in primary care to consistently develop high quality, safe and cost effective services for patients.
  • Provide leadership to our primary care services within the regions, supporting the network of services.
  • Support the Head of Substance Misuse in driving the implementation of our nursing strategy.
  • Act as a role model to healthcare teams, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive regional team.
  • Represent Health in Justice with external agencies including NHS England, regional commissioners, other service providers, networks, patients, communication groups, and other national bodies.
  • Provide a visible and accessible presence when visiting clinical areas, ensuring patients and staff have the opportunity to seek information, help and support, or to share problems or successes.

Qualifications required
  • Registered Nurse, Pharmacist or NMP.
  • Specialist qualification or considerable experience relevant to Health in Justice Services or equivalent experience in primary care.
  • Non medical prescriber or willingness to undertake the course.
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and the ability to work autonomously.
