Job Description

The Gatwick School is looking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and experienced Raising Standards Lead Consultant on a one year fixed term basis.

The Raising Standards Lead Consultant is a key senior leadership role, responsible for driving school improvement and raising achievement across the whole school. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, contribute to the development of the school's vision and priorities, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning through effective curriculum design, staff development and robust monitoring and evaluation.

  • you have substantial and recent teaching experience and a strong track record of raising standards and pupil outcomes
  • you have experience of leading, developing, or coaching staff to improve teaching and learning
  • you have the ability to drive strategic school improvement and contribute to whole-school priorities
  • you are confident in using data, monitoring and evaluation to inform decision-making and impact outcomes
  • you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students

Qualifications Skills Experience

Substantial and recent teaching experience at KS4 essential

Proven success in raising achievement as a subject or year leader and senior leadership essential

Experience of leading, supporting and managing others, both individuals and teams, ensuring high quality performance essential

Successful experience in implementation of monitoring, evaluation and review process to improve the quality of teaching and learning essential

Some successful experience of leading on cross subject initiatives that have contributed to raising achievement. Experience of embedding innovative strategies for Assessment for Learning and Learning to Learn essential

Experience as a successful Deputy Headteacher

Successful leadership, management, review and evaluation of a whole school initiative

Experience of working with external agencies such as CAMHS

Experience as a designated or deputy designated safeguarding lead

Experience managing attendance, behaviour and alternative provision

The ability to motivate and inspire staff and students essential

The ability to make sound judgments based on objective criteria essential

Ability to manage the process of change effectively and thereby deliver major projects through to a successful outcome by continuously reviewing and evaluating progress essential

The ability to bring plans to fruition essential

Ability to analyse and interpret student data and set challenging targets essential

The ability to communicate calmly and negotiate solutions in complex and often difficult situations, with parents, students and the local community essential

Proven ability to identify and implement strategies to raise standards of Teaching and Learning essential

Ability to lead and manage own work effectively and take responsibility for own professional development essential

Excellent communication and presentation skills essential

Ability to participate in and promote performance and exhibition of students' work as an integral part of School life essential

Ability to carry out the job description essential

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure essential

Ability to enhance performance by motivating and developing staff, successful use of team building techniques, support of ECTs and inducting staff with new responsibilities essential
