Are you a compassionate and detail oriented nurse looking to specialise in a dynamic clinical environment? As a Radiology Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures. This position combines advanced nursing care with technical expertise, ensuring patients feel safe, informed, and comfortable before, during, and after their radiology treatments. Working closely with radiologists, radiographers, and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for preparing patients, monitoring their wellbeing, administering medications or contrast agents, and providing clear explanations to ease anxieties. Beyond direct patient care, you will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety, infection control, and clinical excellence in a fast paced department where precision and empathy go hand in hand.

Main duties of the job
  • High quality patient care for patients undergoing interventional procedures within Radiology.
  • Administration of IV medication, including conscious sedation.
  • Scrubbing in for certain procedures.
  • Supporting student nurses and paramedic students.
  • Participation in on-call rota.
  • Working with radiation and wearing of lead garments.
  • The post holder will be an integral part of the Radiology team, working closely with the Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and other associated Radiology staff. The staff member will be responsible for maintaining their own continuing professional development.
  • To adhere to the acknowledged safe practices of radiation protection standards.
  • Working in both the theatre and day unit environment, dual skills for circulating and scrub nurse (2nd operator) with Vascular and Neuro Radiology procedures.
  • Monitoring physiological observations and supporting patients during procedures.
  • Emotionally supporting patients and their families during their journey through Interventional Radiology.
  • Recovery care for patients post procedure and Nurse led discharge within Interventional radiology protocols.

  • 1 year post registration Experience (through placements or employment) of working in a busy environment.
