Quantity Surveyor

Principal accountabilities:

• Contributeto the successful commercial outcome of construction projects.
• Assistthe project surveyor in day-to-day QS activities to manage budgets.
• Assistin the preparation of cost plans, budgets, cashflow and cost reports asrequired
• Alwaysseek to drive the best value in each procurement and appointment decision
• Assistthe project surveyor to implement value engineering, recording results.
• Activelyparticipate in all relevant project and design meetings to ensure that thebest commercial outcomes are achieved.
• Assistwith the procurement of contract packages including producing tenderdocuments, developing tender lists, pre-tender enquiries, receiving andanalysing tender returns, negotiating terms and prices, producing ordersetc.
• Attendprecontract meetings with suppliers, producing notes of meetings.
• Helpto maintain a log of design and subcontract changes with the focus onreducing overall impact.
• Attendsite to monitor progress of works, assist in the preparation of valuations
• Completeany other tasks as the employer may deem necessary

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience:

• Anunderstanding of construction procurement, processes, and procedures.
• Knowledgeof quantity take-offs.
• Understandingof JCT suite of forms and contract law.
• Degreeeducated in a relevant field.Professional qualification is desirable but not necessary.
• A'can -do' attitude with a willingness to challenge conventionalthinking. A pro-active, positivethinking, commercially minded approach with the ability to work at pace.
• Greatattention to detail, enthusiastic, encouraging collaboration across teamsand have a clear focus on cost and value for money.
• Aneffective verbal and written communicator.
• Financialand numerical skills including budget and cashflow management
• Negotiationskills
• Educatedto degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant construction related field.
• Aminimum of 2 years' experience as a commercial surveyor.
• Experienceof successfully working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
