Job Description

Job Title: Project Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cambridge

Contract Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

Rate: £400 per day

Company Overview

We are recruiting for a Project Quantity Surveyor to support delivery across a portfolio of rail infrastructure works in the Cambridge region. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor with a strong pipeline of secured rail projects, offering long-term contract potential and exposure to high-profile schemes within the sector.

The Role

As a Project Quantity Surveyor, you will take a lead role in managing the commercial aspects of rail projects, ensuring effective cost control, risk management, and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Working across sites in Hatfield and Cambridge, you will collaborate closely with operational teams and stakeholders to drive commercial performance and support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full commercial management of assigned rail projects
  • Cost and value reporting, including CVRs
  • Cash flow forecasting and budget management
  • Administration of contracts and ensuring contractual compliance
  • Management and valuation of variations and change control
  • Subcontractor procurement, management, and final accounts
  • Preparation and submission of applications for payment
  • Identification and mitigation of commercial risks
  • Liaison with clients, site teams, and stakeholders
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor within the rail sector
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Strong commercial acumen and contract knowledge
  • Experience managing projects independently
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work across multiple sites
