The Role

Role and Responsibilities (this is not an exhaustive list) The Quantity Surveyor is required to be nearing qualification of a quantity surveying degree or hold a degree in quantity surveying. The person should be able to carry out most of the quantity surveying requirements of a construction and/or civil engineering project throughout the equivalent RIBA stages, that being at both pre and post contract stages. The Quantity Surveyor should be a proactive team member with a level of technical competence that allows them to work with limited supervision in some or all of the following service deliverable:

Assist in establishing client's requirements and respond to the concepts prepared by them or the established consultant team to prepare and advise on initial cost planning exercises.

Carry out competent and accurate measurement inline with appropriate Method of Measurements (MoM), such as NRM/CESMM/MMHW.

Carry out cost planning and value engineering to RIBA design stages and give informed client cost advice.

Have existing knowledge and the appetite to learn about specific building technology in order to comprehend design information.

Have an understanding and developing an opinion on procurement strategies.

Prepare tender and contract documents, including BOQ's for checking by senior staff.

Carry out tender appraisals and identify a recommendation for the client. Monitor and record costs of projects as part of monthly reporting

. Identify risks to projects and assess cost variations.

Value completed works and arrange payment certificates in accordance with the contract.

Liaise and confidently communicate with other members of the project or client team.

Maintain detailed variation and risk register information.

Able to prepare draft final accounts.

Confident to attend and input into project meetings.

Gaining experience or understanding of the CVR process.

An understanding of ADR. Essential Attributes

Excellent IT skills

Good communicator

Ability to work and contribute as part of a team

Car Driver Desirable but not essential attributes

Experienced in using CostX.

Working towards or holds MRICS
