Quality Lead

The Quality Lead reporting to the BMD Quality Manager is a senior role in the quality department, which encompasses project delivery, and contributing to the quality management system within the business.

The role includes responsibility for the project specific quality plans, inspection and test plans, ensuring compliance to client specifications, specified standards, regulations and EU directives are implemented.

The following are the key high level requirements of the role, are not exhaustive in nature and the Employer reserves the rights to adjust at their discretion.

Ensure the compliance of our works to the customer requirements, our QMS and regulatory requirements.

Support and guide to the fabrication team in off-site facilities.

Ensure all delivery resources are trained in the requirements for the successful delivery of the works.

Collaborate with the on-site delivery team to ensure quality standards are met.

Ensure adequate quality resourcing to ensure works are well planned and executed to meet schedule needs.

Generation, review and execution of project Quality Plans, and associated Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)

Produce and or assist in project reporting of Quality KPIs, NDT level, audit findings, inspection finding and punch item trends.

Identify potential quality risks, manage & implement agreed mitigation strategies/innovative control measures.

Manage sub-contractor packages including periodic audits to ensure compliance to Quality Plans, ITPs

Monitor the disposition of all issued Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).

Lead the engagement with customers on customer complaints.

Act as responsible welding coordinator under the auspices of EN ISO 3834

Advise and assist project engineering teams on compliance to the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU.

Stay updated with industry best practices and regulations related to quality management.

Foster a culture of quality consciousness within the organization

Auditing of sites, workshops, OSM and supply chain to ensure compliance to QPs, customer requirements and regulatory compliance.

Plan, execute and report on auditing across the business and suppliers.

Maintain production welding and material traceability is recorded daily and entered to databases and verified at site and OSM facilities.

Leadmeetings. including and customer/consultant project meeting with to ensure quality assurance and control standards are upheld as required.

Carry out or co-ordinate receipt inspection of materials and components at OSM and site.

Ensure all welders are qualified to the project welding processes and they maintain the standard required.

Ensure daily welding production coupons are inspected and signed off, and all daily production is inspected, and records are in order.

Prepare and submit First of kinds (FOK)/First in Place (FIP) for client approvals.

Ensure 100% visual inspection of completed welds is achieved and resourced.

Co-ordinate NDT % testing of site welding.

Lead Quality Toolbox talks to the craft and supervision team.

Ensure "Redlining changes to piping routes" are recorded ahead of Turnover.

Ensure piping Test Packs and supporting records are produced and completed to the project standard for turnover.

Audit and sign off weld logs and weld maps, inspection, and NDT for turnover.

Co-ordinate with the construction team system walkdown and snagging ahead of pressure testing.

Ensure Slope Maps are "As Built" before issuing to Client/Owner Inspectors.

Preliminary slopes verify hygienic systems ahead to Owner verification.

Liaise with client third party representatives to co-ordinate inspections and tests and weekly walks.

Manage and co-ordinate with supervision that punch items are closed to enable timely handover of systems for MC.

Oversee in planning for system completion milestones / when each system is ready for the staged W1, W2 & W3 walkdowns.

Collaborate with the Project Manager, Construction Manager and Project Director to address any quality-related issues

Assemble and or manage teams compiling System Turnover records accurately for the target handover dates assigned per project. Ensuring to audit the accuracy of all Contractor Turnover Records, i.e. Weld Logs, slopes, test packs, inspection records.

Identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance the quality of deliverables.

Contribute to regular Lessons Learnt forums for business improvements and future mitigations of quality related issues.

Trade or professional qualification

CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspection

Min 10 years' experience in the fabrication and construction of the process piping plant

Strong Communicator, written and verbal.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Diligent, has a high level of attention to detail, and sets a high standard of quality for themselves and others.

Personable, and a team player.

People and stakeholder management.

Hard working and able to work in fast paced work environment.
