Quality Engineer

Client: BAE SystemsJob Title: Quality EngineerDuration: 12 monthsLocation: Barrow-in-FurnessHourly Rate: £35.00 PAYE or £47.12 UmbrellaWorking Arrangements: On-siteWorking Hours: - 37 hours per weekOverviewBAE are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support compliance with the local Quality Management System and drive quality improvements across key areas of the business. You will work independently, lead specific quality scopes, and mentor junior team members.Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with local Quality Management System requirements.
• Lead quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Manage non-conformances and support process improvement initiatives.
• Review and improve quality documentation (procedures, standards, risk assessments).
• Provide guidance to junior quality professionals.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and customers to resolve quality issues.
• Analyse data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records using company systems.

RequirementsKnowledge:

• ISO 9001 / EN9100 standards
• Quality and operational assurance processes
• Cross-functional integration and product safety
• Export compliance (e.g. ITAR) - if applicable

Skills:

• Interpretation of specifications and contract requirements
• Strong root cause analysis (e.g. 5 Whys, Fishbone, Six Sigma)
• Effective stakeholder and customer management
• Accurate report writing and data analysis
