Business Unit: Financial Crime

Salary range: Circa £52,000 per annum DOE + Benefits

Location: UK Hybrid Glasgow/Gosforth/London

Contract type: Permanent full-time

Our Team

We're expanding the newly formed Economic Crime Hub Team in 1st Line Financial Crime and creating a Quality Assurance function. Our vision is to deliver consistent, high-quality assurance against high-risk process across our Financial Crime teams.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape and establish processes from the ground up, focussing on protecting our bank while enabling trusted relationships with our customers. You will lead the way in strengthening our financial crime quality controls and protecting customers and the bank from individuals who want to use Virgin Money to launder the proceeds of crime.

What you'll be doing
  • Review the economic crime operational universe and help to implement a risk-based assurance framework that focuses on the highest risk areas.
  • Complete quality assurance checks on high-risk process and document assessment outcomes.
  • Help maintain a suite of MI, analysing error examples and trends across operations, identifying any training, skill or behavioural gaps and making recommendations to management.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to colleagues on quality assurance findings and outcomes.
  • Challenge working practices and methods through interpretation of quality assurance outcomes as well as providing recommendations that support risk-based monitoring activity and improve customer journeys.
  • Continuously identify potential for the improvement of Quality Checking processes, ensuring actions are in place to facilitate the provision of timely and relevant training to all colleagues.
We need you to have
  • A strong background in Financial Crime Risk in banking or financial services, especially operations for personal and business banking customers.
  • Experience in more than one financial crime process, e.g., Transaction Monitoring, Name Screening, Payment Screening, Enhanced Due Diligence, etc.
  • Well-developed decision making and judgement with experience in completing quality checking or quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, questioning and listening skills.
It's a bonus if you have but not essential
  • Relevant qualification from International Compliance Association (ICA) or equivalent e.g., Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: 1st Line Control teams, 2nd Line Compliance Assurance or Audit.

If the role is part of the Senior Manager Regime and Certification Regime, it requires enhanced pre employment checks - we'll ask for six years of regulatory references, and once in the role, you'll be subject to periodic employment checks.
