Qualified Social Worker, Children in Our Care Team, Blackburn Council Pay rate £39 per hour Contract rolesWe are recruiting for experienced Social Worker to work in a Children in Our Care Team in Blackburn Council. You will need experience in a similar Local Authority role.Blackburn with Darwen Childrens Services who were rated 'Good' in its full ILACS Ofsted inspection, are seeking a worker to cover in its Children in our Care Service where your focus will be supporting children through care proceedings to achieve long-term permanence. We require an experienced social worker with experience and confidence with court work including writing statements and parenting assessments. You will undertake high-quality child and family assessments, develop SMART outcome-focused plans, and ensure that each child's voice is central to all decision-making. The role involves care proceedings and court-related practice, including preparing clear, analytical evidence and presenting this confidently in court. They will work collaboratively with families, carers, legal services, Children's Guardians and multi-agency partners to safeguard children, progress permanence plans and ensure decisions are timely, robust and grounded in the child's best interests. 
- Undertake comprehensive child and family assessments, ensuring robust analysis of risk and need.
- Prepare high-quality court documentation, including statements, chronologies and evidence-based care plans.
- Provide clear, confident evidence in court, ensuring the child's welfare and voice remain central.
- Develop SMART, outcome-focused Care Plans and Pathway Plans that safeguard children and promote permanence.
- Undertake child protection enquiries and assess levels of risk to children.
- Work as part of a multi-agency team, including Health, Education, CAMHS, foster carers, the regional adoption agency and Independent Reviewing Officers.
- Promote the welfare of children in line with the Children Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.
