QESH SPECIALIST - ALGECIRAS
As the responsible coordinator, your main task is to ensure that the site complies with all standards and policies, including legislation and customer requirements, in terms of food quality and safety. It is essential to maintain a constant state of readiness for audits. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the company's Quality Management System, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), as well as providing technical support to other departments through education, guidance, and problem-solving. You are expected to foster a positive food safety culture within the organization and act as the primary technical contact for all clients, suppliers, and third-party relationships, including certifications and accreditations. Finally, you will leading both internal and external food safety audits.
You will also contribute to improving EHS-related processes on-site and oversee and manage environmental, health, and safety (EHS) issues and activities at the site level to ensure compliance with legal and company EHS standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that quality systems are implemented to meet current legal, customer, and certification requirements.
- Form a HACCP team to oversee the review, implementation, and compliance of the site's system. Take responsibility for HACCP and the Quality Management System to ensure the use of appropriate review procedures and proper document control.
- Collaborate with the site to ensure compliance with certification and quality audit and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Foster a strong partnership with customers and on-site staff to develop and execute a plan to reduce quality complaints. Investigate complaints thoroughly, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective measures.
- Identify and provide opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance QESH systems and site performance.
- Maintain all site external accreditations, certifications, permits, and licenses as required by the site.
- Coordinate quality and safety activities between departments, including external prevention services.
- Represent the site in key contacts with local QESH authorities.
- Evaluate needs and contribute to and monitor the site's annual EHS budget process.
- Ensure relevant staff are trained in quality and safety, such as food safety training, manual handling, fire safety training, work permit training, and other relevant quality and safety training.
- Quality responsibilities for this role include collecting complaint data and laboratory results.
- Commission and validate quality results, analyse trends, and manage customer responses.
- Prepare technical quality reports to ensure HACCP compliance.
- Supervise pest control and micro-trend reports and validate processes.
- Review customer quality specifications.
- Conduct internal quality audits and safety inspections.
- Manage quality traceability and control internal quality specifications and documents.
- Lead, support, and report on accident or incident investigations on-site.
Essential Skills:
- Degree-level education in Food Sciences or equivalent, with a proven track record as a technical specialist in a high-turnover food or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment. (essential)
- Previous experience working in a similar role of safety and quality with expert knowledge. (essential)
- Native Spanish and a basic understanding of the English language. (essential)
- Fundamental experience as a food safety certification auditor.
- Ability to confidently deliver presentations to large groups of people.
- Ability to work on their own.
- Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to motivate, guide and train a team.
- Ability to think quickly and make decisions with a high level of leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Interdepartmental reporting relationship with site general managers.
