Job Description

Lecturer in Public Services and Sports

  • Location: South East London
  • Hours per Week: 37 (Note: Lunch breaks are unpaid and should not be claimed on weekly timesheets.)
  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Salary: £28-£30p/h up to £35 umbrella
  • Start Date: Urgently required

We are seeking a dedicated Agency Lecturer in Sport and Public Services to join our team at the London South East Campus. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about teaching and developing curriculum in both Sport and Public Services. The position involves teaching Level 3 Sport one day per week and spending the remaining time teaching Level 2 and 3 Public Services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Teach across a range of levels and awarding bodies, including L1, L2, and L3 courses, working with NCFE and BTEC.
  • Assist with the planning and organisation of Sports and Public Services programmes.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the expansion of the department.
  • Participate in marketing events and promote Sport and Public Services courses within the Service Industries curriculum areas.
  • Manage courses and provide a high-quality learning experience that meets or exceeds College standards, resulting in high levels of student retention and achievement.
  • Develop course materials, schemes of work, lesson plans, and make these available through the college's shared information system.
  • Undertake administrative, tutorial, and pastoral duties for one or more groups of full-time or part-time students.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and maintain links with industry to enhance teaching practices and learning outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in teaching and managing Sport and/or Public Services courses at various levels.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and curriculum.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and improving student outcomes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to all aspects of the department, including curriculum development and marketing.
  • Experience with NCFE and BTEC awarding bodies is highly desirable.
