Salary: Starting Salary is £25,583 (Level one) rising to £26,403 per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

About the Role
Do you enjoy working outdoors and making a positive impact in your community? We're looking for enthusiastic and reliable Garden Assistance Service Operatives to join our supportive and hardworking team.
In this role, you will carry out a variety of gardening and grounds maintenance tasks, including lawn care, shrub pruning, general upkeep, and winter clean ups such as leaf collection. All work must be recorded electronically using the team device. As a Public Realm Operative, you may also be required to support other grounds maintenance teams as part of your wider duties.
A full, valid driving licence is essential, as travel between client locations is required. We are looking for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous service improvement, helping us maintain the high standards expected across our grounds maintenance services.

About You
Essential Qualifications
- Full UK driving license.
- To operate and maintain a range of hand tools, light power tools, plant, and equipment in a safe and effective manner, carrying out daily checks as prescribed.
- To work individually and as a member of a team, assisting other team members with their range of duties, across the full range of Neighbourhood Services.
- To work outside with exposure to all weather conditions, performing work that requires normal physical effort with periods of substantial effort and assist with snow clearance and with winter gritting operations.
- To apply attained knowledge and skills to enable the delivery of a quality street environment, carrying out a range of duties concerned with the cleansing of the city, collection and removal of household, industrial and commercial refuse and a range of gardening duties, providing reporting information as required.
- Knowledge of the safe operation of a range of hand and powered tools.
- Knowledge of general gardening techniques including grass and border maintenance.
Essential skills and competencies
- Full UK driving license
- Ability to demonstrate the correct lifting and carrying methods.
- Ability to communicate with other members of the team and members of the public.
- Ability to walk up to 15 miles per day and maintain a long period of physical effort and willingness to maintain a high fitness level in line with the duties of the job.
- Have a flexible attitude to work and be prepared to work shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public bank holidays.
- Ability to work as part of a flexible team, using own initiative and with minimal supervision.
- An understanding of Health & Safety and the ability to comply with City Council's requirements.
