Pieta's vision is a world where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance. Pieta provides a range of counselling services for people who are suicidal, engage in self-harm or who are bereaved by suicide. Pieta also operates a national 24 hour helpline () and a dedicated Education and Training office. We are seeking a Psychotherapist to provide professional and compassionate clinical support to clients who are in suicidal or self-harm crisis, and those bereaved by suicide.

Role & Responsibilities

• Reporting directly to the CSM, the role of the Psychotherapist (35 hours) is to promote and maintain the ethos of Pieta which is rooted in compassion and care.
• Exercise clinical judgement and work autonomously within professional guidelines and Pieta policies, procedures, and practice.
• Hold and maintain an agreed clinical caseload.
• Provide evidence informed, brief, strengths based and goal focused interventions.
• Assess client needs and suitability for Pieta services, deliver appropriate therapeutic supports, and facilitate access to other services as appropriate.
• Provide clinical advice to other psychotherapists in line with Pieta policies and practices.
• Provide practical and clinical support by following up on cases requiring consultation and liaising with other statutory and voluntary organisations.
• Oversee file management in line with GDPR and confidentiality, ensuring best practice in all areas of clinical management.
• Consult and collaborate with the CSM.
• Identify and manage areas of concern, escalating to the CSM as required and agreeing on the approach and steps to resolve concerns, implementing these as appropriate.
• Complete and advise on completion of client risk assessments and management plans.
• Work as a member of the team to keep waiting list times and numbers within target, updating availability of therapist appointments as per Pieta policies.
• Work in accordance with Pieta's Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
• Liaise and consult with other professionals to support clients as required.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with professional codes of conduct and Pieta procedures.
• Attend external clinical supervision twice per month (paid by Pieta) and internal group supervision once per month.
• Attend and actively participate in case management and team meetings, and other meetings as deemed necessary by the CSM.
• Contribute to clinical research, audit and evaluation of the service as required.
• Model professional and personal boundaries within all services.
• Provide reports, statistics and other information required by the CSM within agreed timescales.
• Share information with the CSM, Regional Manager, Pieta team and other services using appropriate meeting and reporting structures.
• Be open to participating in clinical working/project groups as deemed appropriate by the Operations Manager.
• Follow Adult and Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation and liaise with relevant agencies.
• Participate, facilitate and attend training as required, keeping up to date with sector developments.
• Deputise for the CSM during periods of leave.
• Undertake other duties as required.

Essential Education, Skills & Experience

• Recognised qualification at minimum Level 8 on the NQAI framework in Counselling/Psychotherapy (or a recognised Level 7 before 2018 with accreditation).
• Fully accredited Psychotherapist.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
• Interest and enthusiasm for the work of Pieta.
• Experience with databases (e.g. Salesforce CRM) an advantage.
• Knowledge of Brief Solution Focused Interventions, CBT, etc.
• Ability to reflect on practice to facilitate personal learning, professional development and service improvement.
• Demonstrate warmth and empathy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Strong time management skills and capacity to prioritise competing demands.
• Ability to foster good working relationships with external agencies and organisations.
• Fulfil obligations as per the Children First Act 2015.
• Experience working with clients under 18 years old, with relevant training and qualification.
