The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to support in London.

This opportunity offers a full-time locum contract within a Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00 shift pattern, providing structured and consistent work within an inpatient mental health setting. The role is ideally suited to experienced Consultant Psychiatrists with substantial NHS inpatient experience who can work independently while delivering high-quality patient care.

You will be working alongside an established multidisciplinary team, supporting day-to-day service delivery and contributing to safe, effective, and patient-centred psychiatric care.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver Consultant-level psychiatric care within an inpatient setting
• Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans
• Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
• Support the effective management of inpatient caseloads
• Maintain high standards of clinical documentation and record keeping
• Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
• Ensure compliance with local policies, Mental Health Act requirements, and professional standards
• Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care

What We're Looking For

• Full GMC Registration
• 5 years' UK Psychiatry experience
• Section 12 Approved (Essential)
• Approved Clinician (AC) Status on the Specialist Register (Essential)
• Recent NHS Psychiatry experience
• Significant inpatient psychiatry experience
• Ability to work independently and manage clinical responsibilities effectively
• Full compliance documentation
• References covering the previous 3 years
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)

Essential Requirements

• Section 12 approval is mandatory
• AC Status is mandatory
• Previous NHS experience is essential
• Inpatient Psychiatry experience is required
• On-site attendance only
• Part-time and remote working are not available
• Candidates must be available to commence as soon as possible
