Job Description

Envision Education is currently recruiting for an experienced PSHE / Nurture Teacher to join a specialist education setting supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a long-term, part-time position working every Tuesday and Wednesday. The school is looking for an experienced and nurturing teacher who can build strong relationships with pupils and create a safe, structured and supportive environment where young people can develop both academically and emotionally.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging PSHE and nurture-based sessions, helping pupils develop their confidence, emotional regulation, resilience, social skills and understanding of relationships and wider life skills.

QTS and previous SEMH experience are essential for this position. Due to the experience required for the role, ECTs will not be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging PSHE and nurture-based lessons.
  • Support pupils with a range of SEMH needs.
  • Create a safe, structured and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and resilience.
  • Adapt lessons and teaching approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement with learning.
  • Help pupils develop social, emotional and life skills.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress and development.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and the wider school team.
  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour and school policies at all times.
Days and Hours of Work
  • Every Tuesday and Wednesday
  • 2 days per week

Experience, Training and Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs - essential.
  • Previous experience delivering PSHE, nurture or pastoral programmes is highly desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may find mainstream education challenging.
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • This position is not suitable for ECTs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
