What You Will Do
  • Design, back test, and implement arbitrage strategies focused on SHFE and related instruments.
  • Analyze market microstructure to identify cross-exchange and cross-contract arbitrage opportunities, including calendar spreads, inter-month trades, and LME-SHFE basis strategies.
  • Monitor daily profit and loss (P&L), manage risk exposures, and ensure adherence to margin and position limits.
  • Maintain accurate trade capture, position reporting, and post-trade reconciliation; contribute to automation and process improvements.
  • Prepare daily market insights, trade rationales, and periodic performance reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and maintain robust internal controls.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • 4-8+ years of experience trading metals (copper preferred), with a demonstrable track record in arbitrage trading and consistent P&L generation.
  • Strong understanding of SHFE contract specifications, delivery mechanisms, warehousing systems, margining, and Chinese market microstructure.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, including experience developing statistical arbitrage models and conducting rigorous strategy validation.
  • Familiarity with electronic trading systems, order management systems, and real-time market data feeds.
  • Proven risk management expertise, including experience with VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English required, Mandarin strongly preferred.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Direct experience with LME-SHFE basis trading, physical metal logistics, and warehouse receipt systems.
  • Experience engaging with Chinese market participants, brokers, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of options trading and hedging strategies within metals markets.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
