Proposal and Technical Writer

We're working with a leading organisation in the defence and maritime sector who are looking for a skilled Proposal and Technical Writer to join their commercial function. This role is strategically focused on winning new business, not writing manuals, so you'll be creating compelling, compliant, and customer-focused proposals and presentations that directly contribute to business growth. You'll work closely with business development, engineering, operations, and programme management specialists in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and adaptability are key.
Responsibilities- Analyse solicitations (RFPs, RFQs, BAAs) to identify requirements, evaluation criteria, and potential risks
- Develop proposal frameworks, including outlines, storyboards, win strategies, and content plans aligned with customer priorities
- Collaborate with SMEs and programme managers to define technical approaches and value propositions
- Write and edit persuasive, compliant proposal content, ensuring consistency in tone and formatting
- Coordinate contributions from stakeholders, translating technical details into customer-focused messaging while managing deadlines
- Lead review cycles, incorporating feedback to improve compliance, clarity, and competitiveness
- Prepare final proposal submissions and create presentations for client briefings and internal reviews
- Ensure all submission deadlines, formatting, and certification requirements are met
Background in maritime or defence is ideal but not essential.
