Property Underwriter / Assistant

Location: London (City Centre) Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Property Underwriter / Assistant to join a growing Property & Delegated Authority team within a successful UK insurance business. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Commercial Property or Real Estate Insurance who is looking to build a long-term career in underwriting. Working alongside experienced underwriters, you'll support a profitable commercial property portfolio while developing your technical expertise in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

The Role

As a Property Underwriter, you'll support the underwriting of commercial property risks under delegated authority agreements, helping to maintain portfolio performance while delivering excellent outcomes for brokers, insurer partners and clients.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Underwriting commercial property risks within delegated authority.
  • Preparing quotations, renewals, policy documentation and mid-term adjustments (MTAs).
  • Maintaining accurate underwriting records, bordereaux and portfolio data.
  • Supporting profitable underwriting decisions through sound risk assessment.
  • Ensuring compliance with FCA regulations, delegated authority agreements and internal governance.
  • Building strong relationships with brokers, insurer partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve underwriting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Continuously developing your technical underwriting knowledge.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience within Commercial Property or Real Estate Insurance.
  • Exposure to underwriting, underwriting support or commercial broking.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • An understanding of commercial property risks and underwriting principles.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to develop a career in underwriting.
Desirable Experience
  • Delegated authority or binder experience.
  • Bordereaux reporting.
  • Experience using Acturis or similar insurance platforms.
  • CII qualifications, or progress towards them.
