Job Description

Project Support Officer - Children's Services Transformation

Initial 3-6 month interim contract - likely to extend to 12 months+

£250 Umbrella per day

Midlands (Hybrid working)

Inside IR35

We are seeking an experienced Project Support Officer to join the Children's Transformation team working closely with a key leader to drive and support the delivery of the Families First national programme-a key part of a major transformation initiative within the council's Children's Social Care service.

About your role as Project Support Officer
  • You will provide essential project support to a Senior Project Manager, ensuring smooth delivery of programme objectives.
  • This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation (action logs, risk registers, decision records).
  • Schedule and organise meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement sessions.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for governance boards and programme updates.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and update project plans in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams and external partners.
  • Track and escalate issues or risks for resolution.
  • Assist in developing dashboards and performance reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
Your required experience as Project Support Officer
  • Proven experience as a Project Officer, Business Support or in Project Management support.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable working with data and digital tools.
  • Degree-level education (essential); Project Management qualification (desirable).
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ideally you will haveFamiliarity with AI tools and data visualisation platforms.
  • Experience in Children's Social Care or public sector transformation programmes is preferred but not essential
