Job Description
VANRATH are delighted to be assisting our major Public Sector client, a large and well-known organisation with the recruitment of a Project Officer to join their team based in Newtownabbey.
This is a Full-Time Monday-Friday position. Temporary contract expected to last for a minimum of 6 months.
Salary

Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of economic development programmes such as business mentoring, networking, and small business grants.
- Provide economic advice and guidance to businesses, individuals, and other relevant organisations.
- Organise events and activities aligned with economic development and regeneration strategies.
- Assist in securing and managing external funding by preparing applications and progress reports.
- Review business plans and financial documentation, assisting with project assessments and appraisals.
- Monitor and evaluate funded projects to ensure they meet objectives and reporting requirements.
- Promote economic development activities via communication channels such as press releases, social media, and promotional materials.
- Assist with budget management, financial reporting, and procurement processes.
- Support internal teams and external partners in the development and implementation of economic projects.
- Adhere to policies on health, safety, and safeguarding.
- Perform other duties as required by the role.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant qualification or at least 3 years' experience in economic development, community development, or related fields.
- At least 1 year's experience in economic development activities.
- Strong planning, administrative, and financial skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Valid driving license and access to transport.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in project/programme management, funding applications, and financial claims.
- Familiarity with EU and other funding programs.
