Post Title: Project Manager

Contract Type: 10 Month Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover)

Workplace: Remote. North-West England

Reporting to: Education & Employability Manager

We are looking for a driven and passionate Project Manager to work in our Projects & Participation Team within EFL in the Community. This role benefits millions through EFL Football Club charity support, helping to better lives through the power of EFL Clubs.

Job Outline

Within the Project & Participation Team and wider EFL in the Community, the Project Manager will support Higher Education (HE) programmes delivered by EFL in the Community in partnership with the University of South Wales. You will provide academic support for these programmes across Football Club charities, monitoring and supporting students' progress and engagement. You will also assist with monitoring, evaluation, quality improvement, and development, aligned with USW's success metrics such as recruitment, retention, satisfaction, and progression.

Key Responsibilities

Football Club Charity Support

  • Deliver academic coaching to students on HE programmes in partnership with USW.
  • Report issues or themes at Football Club charities to inform student engagement profiles and identify at-risk students.
  • Ensure charities are adequately resourced and compliant with SLAs.
  • Provide quality assurance and report findings to the Education and Employability Manager.
  • Agree recruitment plans with mentors and monitor progress.
  • Support recruitment and retention activities to meet programme targets.

Leadership & Expertise

  • Regularly liaise with charity staff to monitor student progress.
  • Create and implement site action plans.
  • Participate in course inductions and residentials at USW.
  • Provide pastoral support, signposting, and referrals for students.
  • Support onboarding of new delivery partners.
  • Ensure organisational requirements like Safeguarding and Data Protection are embedded.
  • Share case studies and stories for marketing.
About The Candidate

Who We Are Looking For

Knowledge & Understanding

  • Mentoring skills and understanding of the student journey in HE.
  • Experience in academic support roles.
  • Familiarity with community football or sports coaching.
  • Knowledge of community education and quality improvement.
  • Innovative and able to challenge norms.

Technical Skills

  • Degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields.
  • Additional qualifications in study skills or teaching preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and report writing.
  • Experience in teaching or mentoring in blended learning environments.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
