The Project Manager is the senior on-site leader with overall responsibility for the successful delivery, quality, safety and financial performance of civil engineering projects. The role ensures full coordination of all aspects of the contract and that client expectations are met or exceeded. The Project Manager upholds the highest standards in line with Sisk's HSEQS policies and procedures, while seeking opportunities to enhance project value and profitability.
Contract: 3 months' FTC (summer projects)
ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery
- Plan, manage and deliver projects in line with agreed programme, budget and specifications
- Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, design and construction functions
- Monitor progress, manage risks and implement corrective actions where required
- Ensure resources are effectively allocated and project milestones are achieved
- Maintain accurate reporting on progress, costs, quality and performance indicators
Quality, Safety and Compliance
- Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental performance across all activities
- Ensure all works comply with design, specifications and statutory regulations
- Implement and monitor project specific quality plans, method statements and inspection regimes
- Support audits, inspections and reviews to maintain compliance and continuous improvement
Commercial and Contract Management
- Manage budgets, forecasts, variations and project cash flow
- Work closely with the commercial team to ensure accurate reporting and contract administration
- Ensure procurement processes are followed and subcontractor performance is managed effectively
- Support tendering and bid processes where required
Leadership and Communication
- Lead project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Chair progress and coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication of objectives and outcomes
- Act as the key point of contact for project related queries, decisions and escalations
Essential
- Proven experience managing large scale construction projects from inception to completion
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage teams and subcontractors
- Excellent understanding of project delivery processes including scheduling, cost control and quality management
- Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Experience delivering projects in sectors such as life sciences, data centres, infrastructure or commercial construction
- Understanding of digital project delivery tools including BIM and project management software
- Commercial awareness including contract law and cost management principles
- Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and promote innovation
- Minimum 5 years' experience in civil engineering project management, with successful delivery of multiple projects across sectors.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles and construction methods, with proven ability to manage project financials, risk and commercial outcomes.
- Working knowledge of NEC3 and JCT Design & Build forms of contract, plus relevant sustainability standards (e.g., BREEAM, LEED, or CEEQUAL).
- Strong leadership, people management and conflict resolution capability, with effective stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The role requires an analytical, methodical approach and strong commercial awareness.
