Working arrangements

Please note this role offers hybrid working, with a minimum of 60% onsite and 40% home working.

Overview

This role is part of the P3MO (Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management Office). It is seconded into a project to ensure technical delivery in terms of time, cost, and quality, working alongside the project manager and technical lead. The role is crucial for managing the project through its technical delivery lifecycle, from concept to design, bills of materials management, procurement, and assembly.

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager and Technical Lead/Chief Engineer to provide engineering delivery leadership.
  • Ensure that activities and deliverables are completed on schedule by suppliers and internal teams.
  • Assist in generating and maintaining technical documentation and participate in continuous improvement activities at both project and business levels, applying system thinking where appropriate.
  • Translate requirements into deliverables and project objectives, tracking progress to meet these requirements.
  • Establish project documentation in accordance with management processes, including requirements, project plans, finances, system FMEAs, design approvals, risk registers, and change management documentation.
  • Identify risks and liaise with stakeholders to develop mitigation plans, resolving issues related to time, cost, or specifications.
  • Capture and share lessons learned effectively.
  • Promote safe working practices, ensuring design safety is understood and followed from conception to operation.
  • Understand engineering standards and apply them throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Experience in delivering complex technology, product, or infrastructure programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and/or other Agile tools like JIRA or Redmine.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and/or software development processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships across the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to report project status and issues clearly.
  • Proactive, energetic, with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Organizational skills with experience in resource and budget management.
  • Adaptability and resilience to handle ambiguity.
