Project Engineer - Telecoms/IP Networking
Location: Edinburgh - with travel to sites across Scotland
Contract: 6 months Rolling
Rate: £250 - £270 per day, all inclusive
IR35: Outside IR35
A full driving licence and the ability to travel to sites across Scotland.

The role is 100% onsite and requires travel to project sites across Scotland. There is no remote-working option.
Spec:
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of telecoms network projects and ongoing network maintenance across Scotland.
This is a hands-on technical role involving the planning, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and documentation of telecoms and IP Networking environments.
You will work alongside field, project and network operations teams, supporting Project Managers and Senior Project Managers with the scoping, preparation, planning, implementation and delivery of technical projects of varying scale and complexity.
The role requires regular travel to sites across Scotland, so candidates must hold a full driving licence and be comfortable occasionally working away from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, ensuring customer networks are fully documented as part of project handovers.
- Install, configure, fault-find, report on and maintain Routers, Switches and Firewalls.
- Complete site surveys to enable successful installations.
- Carry out rack, charger and telecoms equipment installation and commissioning to an excellent standard.
- Create Health & Safety documentation including RAMS and POWRA, ensuring appropriate H&S measures are followed.
- Support the strategic planning and delivery of installation and commissioning projects.
- Work alongside field, project and network operations teams.
- Provide technical representation at customer meetings.
- Assist with critical faults.
- Complete end-of-job documentation to an excellent standard.
Essential Experience
Candidates should have:
- Proven experience monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting network and system environments.
- Strong IP Networking knowledge, including CCNA-level knowledge, WAN, LAN and MPLS.
- Hands-on experience with Nokia platforms, including Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P.
- Excellent understanding of routing, switching and data networking principles.
- Experience working with XTran technology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for network and technical diagramming.
- A full driving licence and the ability to travel to sites across Scotland.
