Job Description

We are currently seeking a Project Director to work with us in Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the appointed Authority's representative for civil infrastructure project contracts.
  • Lead coordination with delivery teams, consultants and contractors.
  • Manage the contract budget, ensure effective resource deployment, and provide reporting.
  • Define, track, and report on delivery milestones and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to support contract delivery and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate with directorate functions to ensure delivery excellence, compliance, and efficient processes.
  • Ensure governance, risk management and controlled milestone delivery.
  • Apply oversight and expert judgement, seeking independent assurance as needed; elevate significant risks/issues.
  • Maintain alignment with project strategies and governance structures.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lean practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Discharge delegated authority for project decisions within governance limits.
  • Deliver programme outcomes within agreed baselines and tolerances.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams and support resource allocation for programme efficiency.
  • Review and challenge contractor forecasts when appropriate.
  • Champion a strong safety culture across the programme.
  • Clarify stakeholder management and communication responsibilities in line with broader strategies.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the role.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years' programme delivery experience, with at least 10 years' senior management experience and a proven track record of leading delivery across infrastructure programmes of significant size and complexity, preferably with experience in Rail Systems for Heavy Rail, Metro or Tram, including DBFOM contracts.
  • At least a Bachelor (Honours) degree (or equivalent) in engineering, construction, project management or a related field.
  • Master's degree or Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body is preferred, e.g., Chartered Engineer, Chartered Project Professional, or Programme Management Professional.
  • Experience from inception to completion of complex high value metro and/or rail projects.
  • Experience in tunnelling or rail systems installation and commissioning is desirable.
  • Tangible experience documenting best practice delivery, policies and standards.
  • Experience dealing with stakeholders at all levels across the organisation, influencing process improvement and guiding project delivery and reporting.
  • Delivered integrated design enabling infrastructure delivery in previous senior roles.
  • Deep understanding of capital project delivery in complex environments.
  • Demonstrable leadership, management and technical skills across project, contract, finance and change management.
  • Strong planning, governance, stakeholder management and team leadership abilities.
  • Expertise in delivering technically complex projects and managing multiple teams.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, positive, and able to manage risks, priorities and client expectations under pressure.
