Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Controls Engineer to support the successful delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects in the Barcelona region. You will be a key member of their consultancy's project management team, responsible for schedule development, cost tracking, and reporting, working closely with both internal stakeholders and client teams. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, a passion for project data, and experience in supporting complex construction projects from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and maintenance of integrated project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Monitor project performance against baseline schedules and budgets, providing variance analysis and early warning indicators.
- Assist in the implementation of Earned Value Management (EVM) systems and techniques.
- Track project costs, update forecasts, and report on cost performance and potential overruns.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of risk registers and mitigation plans.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports, dashboards, and KPIs for both internal and client review.
- Support change management processes, including assessment of time and cost impacts.
- Liaise with consultants, contractors, and suppliers to collect and verify progress data.
- Ensure that all project controls documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with client expectations.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in a project controls role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
- Familiarity with cost control and forecasting principles, including EVM.
- Strong communication and reporting skills-both written and verbal.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); Spanish proficiency is a strong advantage.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience working within a consultancy or client-facing project environment.
- Understanding of FIDIC, NEC, or local Spanish contract administration practices.
- Exposure to project controls tools such as Asta Powerproject, Deltek Cobra, or Power BI.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on time-sensitive deliverables.
