Freelance Project Controls Manager - Major Industrial Project (Antwerp)


Location: On-site, Antwerp (Harbour area)

Duration: 12 months

Start: ASAP


A leading industrial client is seeking a freelance Senior Project Controls Manager to support the final phase of a major capital project in Antwerp. This is a high-impact role on the Owner's Team during the final stages of construction and pre-commissioning for a flagship process industry facility.


You'll act as a key controls expert on-site, helping drive timely and risk-mitigated delivery through your expertise in schedule analysis, progress measurement, and contractor interface.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support final construction and commissioning phases from an Owner's perspective.
  • Review and analyse schedules developed in Primavera P6 by the EPCM contractor.
  • Track project progress and remaining scope with clarity and precision.
  • Create effective visual reports and dashboards (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Assess schedule risks and provide mitigation insights.
  • Liaise daily with EPCM and Owner's teams ( 80 personnel), ensuring priorities are aligned.
  • Contribute to a fast-moving, completion-driven environment.


Your Background

  • 5-15 years in Project Controls on large-scale industrial builds (€250M-€1B+).
  • Background in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or similar process industries.
  • Proven hands-on ability with Primavera P6.
  • Fluent in English (Italian or experience with Italian EPCM firms a bonus).
  • Skilled in Excel, PowerPoint, and project reporting tools.
  • Strong communicator, independent mindset, ready to plug into an existing framework.
