Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant for a 9 month contract to support a range of finance transformation, process improvement, and standardisation activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance, data, IT, and operational teams.

This role will suit someone who thrives in a fast paced environment and has strong experience in finance systems, process automation, and cross functional project work.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Process Automation & Systems Support
    • Assist in the transition from manual finance activities (for example, invoicing and reconciliations) to more automated and streamlined processes.
    • Map, document, and improve existing workflows and finance processes.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (finance, IT, data) to design, test, and implement new solutions.
    • Provide guidance, support, and training materials as new processes or tools are rolled out.
    • Examples of systems you may work with include: Sage, SAP, Power BI, Snowflake/SQL, Alteryx, Microsoft Forms, Salesforce, and reconciliation/close automation tools (e.g. BlackLine or similar).
    • Support the collation and documentation of requirements for enhanced financial and operational reporting (including management information).
    • Assist with data mapping, data quality checks, and data migration activities related to finance projects.
    • Contribute to the development of improved reporting outputs for management and operational teams, working with BI/data teams where relevant.
    • Help ensure that finance data and reporting requirements are clearly defined, prioritised, and aligned with business needs.
    • Support enhancements to reconciliation processes (for example, bank reconciliations and receipts matching), including identifying opportunities to increase automation and standardisation.
    • Assist with testing and validating updated or redesigned reconciliation controls and processes.
    • Help document reconciliation procedures and control frameworks for business as usual use.
    • Act as a key coordination point for information requests relating to Group wide finance and transformation programmes (including ERP and other systems initiatives).
    • Prepare clear documentation, summaries, and updates for project stakeholders.
    • Work closely with central finance, transformation, and IT colleagues to ensure alignment with Group standards and objectives.
    • Support local implementation activities arising from Group initiatives.
    • Review financial processes across different business areas or legacy entities to identify duplication, gaps, and opportunities for consistency and improvement.
    • Contribute to the creation and roll out of standard operating procedures for key finance activities.
    • Support change management activities (communication, training, feedback) to ensure successful adoption and embedding of updated processes.

Skills & Experience
  • Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in project based finance roles, with a focus on process change and improvement.
  • Strong experience with finance systems and process automation (e.g. ERP, reporting/BI tools, workflow/automation solutions, reconciliation tools).
  • Experience of data migration, data mapping, and working with both legacy and target systems.
  • Strong analytical, data handling, and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience supporting Group wide or multi entity finance initiatives is advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across finance, IT, and operational teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, change driven environment and managing multiple workstreams.
