The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Financial Operations, the Project Accountant is responsible for in-depth financial analysis, capital project reporting and has a key role in the forecasting and budgeting processes for EirGrid Group. The successful candidate will provide day to day support for the business of their capital infrastructure onshore projects, reviewing significant spend, monthly analysis of capital expenses, the financial planning process and provision of valuable commentary and insights for the business.

The successful candidate will be commercially minded while demonstrating high levels of attention to detail. Strong communication skills will also be needed as there is regular collaboration with leaders from other departments and the candidate will need to be confident in dealing with those leaders and be seen as a trusted advisor to the business. The role holder will challenge and drive excellent business decisions, supported by accurate and timely information, providing insights from the data that is communicated in a relevant and credible way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the review and presentation of monthly financial results of capital infrastructure onshore projects to the Management Team;
  • Finance lead in charge of onshore infrastructure capital project reporting, providing feedback and insights where appropriate;
  • Monitor spend against the various Regulatory allowances and budgets;
  • Create and maintain financial models that facilitate large volumes of data that can be manipulated to present information to different audiences;
  • Support the Executive team in monthly and quarterly financial performance reviews;
  • Lead the billing of infrastructure projects to the Transmission Asset Owner;
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for onshore infrastructure capital projects;
  • Participate in the internal and external audit processes;
  • Maintain good collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders across the group, ensuring a flow of communication to drive excellent business decisions;
  • Engage with stakeholders on process improvements to maximise efficiencies.
About You
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Previous Project Accountant experience is a must.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and Word are essential.
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extensive decision making experience and an ability to prioritise conflicting deliverables.
  • Comfortable operating in environments of ambiguity, with the flexibility to adapt.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Energetic, passionate and willing to challenge the status quo in the interests of delivering change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team.
