Job Description

The Professional Support Lawyer (Commercial Contracts & Data Protection) role in Birmingham offers a salary of £80,000 to £110,000 per annum for a full-time position. This post focuses on shaping legal expertise development and sharing across the firm, moving beyond standard fee-earning duties.

THE ROLE
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong solicitor who wants to move beyond a traditional fee-earning role and influence how legal services are developed and delivered.
  • Working alongside commercial contracts and data protection specialists, you'll be instrumental in creating practical resources, supporting legal excellence and embedding new technologies, including AI, into the way our teams work.
  • You will play a central role in supporting lawyers and clients by developing legal knowledge, improving processes and delivering training.
  • You will be responsible for Knowledge & Legal Updates, monitoring changes in legislation, case law and regulatory developments relevant to commercial contracts and data protection, preparing clear, practical updates and guidance for legal teams and creating, reviewing and maintaining precedent documents, practice notes and template resources.
SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Applicants should have at least five years PQE in commercial contracts and data protection law.
  • Knowledge of public procurement law would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills.
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using legal technology.
  • Previous experience as a Professional Support Lawyer or delivering legal training would be welcomed, although not essential.
