Are you an experienced purchasing or product professional with a passion for the heating, plumbing and renewable energy sector? Heat Merchants is seeking a commercially focused and strategic Product (Purchasing) Manager - Heating & Renewables to drive our product range, supplier partnerships and purchasing strategy across this key category.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the continued growth and success of Ireland's leading supplier of heating, plumbing and renewable energy solutions. Working closely with suppliers, branch teams, sales management and senior leadership, you will help ensure we offer the right products, at the right price, to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the market.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- You will be responsible for sourcing the right product at the right terms (considering cost, rebate, lead times) that will allow Heat Merchants Group to continue to lead the way in the in the heating and renewable market by providing innovative solutions for customers and staff.
- Manage existing stock profile to ensure it meets the demands of the business and our customers.
- Using market intelligence, work proactively with Inventory Management to ensure sufficient stocks are in place to meet demand while working to avoid over stocks and obsolete stocks.
- Liaise with the commercial sales team including the specification & estimation Teams to ensure what is purchased is aligned to both current and future sales strategies.
- Ensure that professional supplier contracts are developed and maintained offering the best possible terms and conditions.
- Build, maintain and manage relationships with suppliers.
- Conduct market research to keep up with legislation and advances in technology in the renewable and heating sector.
- Liaise with the key internal stakeholders to support the Group sales strategy.
- Research and source new products to provide a competitive edge for the business and encourage complimentary sales of related product
- Ensure that new products are effectively and efficiently launched.
- Create and implement pricing strategy on new product lines to include customer terms and recommended margin halts.
- Liaise with Marketing to deliver promotional product collateral.
- Work on quarterly offers to energise and support sales initiatives.
- Adherence to and implementation of Health & Safety rules and procedures.
- Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by Management.
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding in Heating & Renewable technologies.
- Previous experience of purchasing or selling heating or renewable products.
- Ability to demonstrate sound commercial acumen with strong analytical skills.
- Demonstrate previous successful track record in negotiating with 3rd parties at a senior level.
- Ability to research and anticipate legislative, environmental and technological industry changes.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisation skills
- Ability to make decisive decisions and communicate them clearly
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite
- Full, clean, valid driving licence
- Possess or be working towards a relevant engineering or equivalent 3rd level qualification.
