Contract Type: 6-month secondment, Full Time
Salary Range: £51,200 - £64,000 depending on experience
Location: Any Ageas UK location
Travel: You will be expected to travel to an Ageas UK office on average once per month, but this may be more depending on business need.

Product Owner: The Product Owner role is responsible for managing a product within the business. They deliver change across technical products within an agile framework, to support and deliver both smaller ongoing deliverables and larger business outcomes. The role holder will be responsible for understanding both the business strategy and technology agenda to build a prioritised plan for delivery of the required change and subsequent value realisation.
The Product Owner owns, prioritises and maintains the product backlog for a product. They provide direction to their delivery team and collaborate with other Product Owners to ensure they are prioritising and delivering items that will deliver the most significant business value and in line with the overall Product strategy. They work with Business leads and other Product Owners to understand the required outcomes and business strategy. They use this vision to define the roadmap and lower-level deliverables through to delivery and value realisation
Main Responsibilities as Product Owner:
- Be the lead for a Product or sub-product within the business
- Create a product roadmap with a mid to long term view of how they'll deliver business outcomes, taking into account technology trends, industry best practice, and other related/dependent IT capabilities
- Work with their delivery team to deliver change, and collaborate across multiple teams to ensure our deliveries are joined up
- Work collaboratively with business leads and SMEs to make the right decisions to meet business outcomes, and ensure we deliver the highest possible value incrementally, and early. Communicate to stakeholders and to delivery teams what needs to be built, why and for whom.
- Responsible for delivering both business-driven change and the 'lights on' change (incidents, maintenance, technical debt) to maintain the product.
- Tailor approach to be able to deliver complex change across a variety of internal development teams, offshore teams, and 3rd parties
- Ensure we work in line with Agile best practice (e.g. backlogs are well defined and fit with Ageas standards, we're value-led, definition of ready, acceptance criteria and definition of done are clearly communicated and agreed)
- Work collaboratively with other Product Owners, scrum masters and delivery teams to refine the backlogs and identify cross journey dependencies to ensure that end-to-end solutions are delivered.
- Contribute to a culture of value-led delivery, innovation, test and learn, and empowered teams
Skills and experience you need as Product Owner:
- At least 3 years working full time as a Product Owner or equivalent role in a delivery environment
- Leadership - for their product and their delivery team, consistently take the initiative, lead matrix teams, be a figurehead for their product, and drive the team along the lines of high value, velocity and quality
- Customer focus - works effectively with customer/user experience design teams to ensure the best possible experience is delivered, keeping the customer at the heart of what they do
- Transparent and Collaborative - effective at getting alignment across matrix teams with open communication and empowering their team to reach the best outcomes, within both agile delivery and interfacing with traditional waterfall projects
- Communication - ability to communicate complex business and technology messages to a senior level and at delivery team level.
- Organised - able to deliver complex and high-profile change for their team within a high pressure and changing environment
- Value led - numerate and analytical nature, able to adapt plans to customer needs, business outcomes and technology to recognise high value early
- Prioritisation - Uses critical thinking and problem solving to make sound prioritisation decisions for their team based on value of feature and estimated time to develop/deliver it. Able to manage stakeholders' expectations with effective communication
- Resilient - able to learn from setbacks, adapt their approach, and support others within their team
- Technical and product knowledge - Fully understands the domain and product or is able to quickly understand this within the context of Ageas.
- Agile delivery - expert knowledge of Agile and the main Agile frameworks, and is a standard bearer for continual improvement within their delivery team
- Adaptable - Highly flexible and adaptable with an ability to drive change forward in their area of the business through strong influence of business areas
