Job Description

Tired of Product Manager roles where you're just managing a backlog instead of actually building products? This one's different.

We're recruiting on behalf of one of our key clients - a major central government programme delivering digital services used by millions of people across the UK, and a client we've placed 10 contractors with in the last month alone. They need a Product Manager who wants real ownership, not just a seat at the table.

If you want to shape a product from Discovery through to Go-Live - not just inherit someone else's roadmap - keep reading.

  • SFIA Level 5 - senior, high-trust role
  • BPSS clearance required
  • Newcastle, 2 days/month on-site - genuinely remote-friendly the rest of the time
  • Contract - start ASAP
  • Own the product vision, strategy and roadmap - and defend it with a clear value case, not vibes
  • Build and prioritise the Product Backlog, and get real buy-in from senior stakeholders
  • Champion user needs and accessibility in every decision you make
  • Shape technical, content and design solutions - not just sit in the meetings
  • Manage dependencies across teams and keep delivery honest on quality and timescales
  • Track KPIs post-launch and use them to keep driving value, not just "go live and move on"
  • Share what you know - plug into an active community of Product craft peers
  • You'll drive it, not just support it - full lifecycle ownership from Discovery to Live
  • National-scale impact - this isn't a vanity project, it's a service that matters
  • A strong multi-disciplinary team - designers, developers and policy experts who actually collaborate
  • A rate that reflects the seniority - £450/day inc. fees for a genuinely senior contract
  • A client with a track record - we've successfully placed 10 contractors with them in the past month alone
  • Operate at SFIA Level 5 or equivalent seniority as a Product Manager
  • Have a track record of product-led delivery through Discovery, Alpha, Beta and Live
  • Can win over senior stakeholders and turn strategy into an actionable roadmap
  • Genuinely care about user-centred design and accessibility - not just tick the box
  • Hold active BPSS clearance, or are eligible and ready to get it

This role won't be open long - strong candidates are already circling.
