Background and Role
IMCD UK is based in Sutton, Surrey, and employs over 300 people. Representing major producers, IMCD salespeople are market focused technical experts who offer solutions for customers' problems utilising the comprehensive and complementary product portfolio. Through its people, their expertise, and the creation of open and lasting partnerships, IMCD is able to analyse market trends and provide advice on formulation, production process and application, thus generating unrivalled growth for our principal partners.
The purpose of the Product Manager role is to help manage and develop Principal Suppliers both commercially and technically within the UK and Ireland that are key for the Food & Nutrition business. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Product Manager works closely with other Product Managers, Account Managers, Customer Support Team and Technical Managers within the IMCD network. You will be predominantly working from your home-base with travel to customers and to attend Team and Industry events as required.
Your responsibilities at IMCD :Act as relationship manager for selected UK Principal suppliers
Manage the UK Hydrocolloid and Dairy Proteins business
Ensure profit margins and working capital are managed against budgetary targets
Provide detailed technical support and training on key product lines to key internal and external stakeholders including introducing new products and applications
Facilitate the progress of product inquiries and business opportunities with the Account Management team, and liaise directly with suppliers and customers, as required
Analyse product sales to provide appropriate support to the sales team, in order to achieve budget targets
Generate timely reports both for internal peers and external Principal suppliers
Initiate and progress product campaigns and undertake market mapping in support of portfolio and business development with Internal sales functions
Work with the central Marketing function on digital marketing campaigns and the maintenance and development of the IMCD UK website and B2B (MyIMCD) portal
Oversee the purchasing function to ensure targets on stock turn over days and value are hit
Work together with the Food & Nutrition Technical Team and Network of Labs to support customer projects and produce new concepts for the sales team
Any other ad hoc tasks as required
Ideal Candidate:
Strong commercial and technical background, ideally gained through experience within the UK Food & Nutrition market
Prior involvement in supplier management, with demonstrable experience of relationship building
Academically qualified, ideally with a degree in chemistry or related subject or business degree, or proven track record gained within the chemical sector
Self-motivated, disciplined, with good organisation, prioritisation, and time management skills, and comfortable/effective working from home . Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to prioritise accordingly
Strong commercial acumen, with a high regard for accuracy, and confident navigating and presenting commercial data with the team
Highly Numerate and analytical, with the ability to utilise data to inform actionable strategies to meet the Company's goals
A dynamic self-starter, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and with the confidence to engage with stakeholders of all levels and backgrounds
A team player, working collaboratively with both the team and other internal stakeholders to enable IMCD's success
Dynamic presentation skills and able to execute in one-to-one situations as well as large groups
IT literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and experience of working with CRM systems
