A vacancy has arisen in the Aerostructures product line (Plain & Rolling bearings) as part of our strong and ambitious development plan. To support this rapid growth, the Aerostructures Product Engineering department is reinventing its structure while strengthening its fundamentals. We are looking to add a product engineer to our team.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

1. Perform product design activities for self-lubricating bearing solutions, in accordance with AS9100 requirements, including:

• Reviewing customer drawings & specifications and evaluating engineering proposals
• Defining initial product design in collaboration with the CAD engineering team
• Ensuring full justification, including risk assessment (DFMEA) and product performance analysis through calculations
• Completing design reviews with Manufacturing and CAD teams
• Supporting product qualification efforts as needed for SKF and customer requirements

1. Support Business Development, Sales & Application Engineering in handling business opportunities and customer requests.

1. Capture and develop product knowledge, design rules, and calculation tools to enhance the capabilities of the Aerospace Product Engineering team, focusing on self-lubricating families.

1. Sustain the self-lubricating product portfolio and technology, maintaining and developing technical specifications.

1. Assist Application Engineering with field return analyses and lessons learned.

1. Support Manufacturing in problem-solving related to product design.

Skills, Experience, and Key Attributes

• Strong interpersonal skills for team collaboration
• Proactive, dynamic, self-motivated, with ownership of activities, capable of working autonomously and within a global team
• Analytical mindset with good judgment and problem-solving skills, methodical in understanding and documenting knowledge
• Innovative in developing and improving tools and workflows
• Eager to learn and develop professionally
• Engineering degree (Mechanical or similar) with 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in Aerospace or bearing industry
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of French or Italian is a plus
• Knowledge of design principles, engineering calculations, drawings, and dimensioning
• Experience with CAD parametric design (Creo preferred) and FEA is highly desirable
• Knowledge of DFMEA techniques is advantageous
• Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year as needed

The position is based at SKF Aerospace UK, Clevedon Site, with potential for hybrid working arrangements.
