We are exclusively supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business seeking a Procurement Manager to lead its purchasing function. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping procurement strategy, improving supplier performance and ensuring continuity of supply across a complex manufacturing operation.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership within the supply chain function, you will take ownership of the procurement team, overseeing both strategic and operational purchasing activities. You will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier performance, driving cost reduction initiatives and ensuring materials are available to support production requirements.

This position offers a blend of leadership, commercial negotiation, supplier management and cross-functional collaboration, making it ideal for a procurement professional looking to make a tangible impact within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Buyers, setting objectives and driving performance.
• Manage end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, tendering, negotiation, contracting and supplier management.
• Ensure continuity of supply for materials, components and services critical to manufacturing operations.
• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that support business growth and reduce supply chain risk.
• Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships while leading performance review programmes.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts to deliver value, cost savings and service improvements.
• Monitor inventory performance and drive stock optimisation initiatives.
• Oversee procurement processes, KPI reporting and continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, Quality, Sales and R&D teams to align procurement priorities.
• Support compliance with quality, environmental and ethical sourcing requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Proven procurement experience within a manufacturing, engineering, aerospace or technical environment.
• Previous experience leading and developing purchasing or procurement teams.
• Strong supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing expertise.
• Excellent commercial negotiation and contract management skills.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills.
• CIPS qualification (or working towards) or a relevant degree would be advantageous.
