Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and driven Procurement Manager to join our growing team in the new Transmission & Distribution sector. The role involves leading strategic procurement activities across key UK-wide projects.
Requirements- Substantial experience in a procurement role, with at least 3 years including key responsibilities and duties.
- Experience running procurement packages on numerous major projects.
- Experience with supply chain management requirements on projects.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of integrated IT systems.
- Literacy and numeracy with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other office applications.
- Experience within a construction/engineering or similar background.
- CIPS qualification.
- Experience working in the transmission and distribution sector.
- Experience working on National Grid contracts.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Manager to join the Power Infrastructure team at STRABAG UK, delivering critical infrastructure projects across the transmission and distribution sector.
Key Responsibilities- Report to the Senior Procurement Manager or, on a smaller project, the Project Commercial Lead and be responsible for delivery of specified procurement packages, both key and routine.
- Ensure all group processes are followed as per the Procurement and Supply Chain Director's policies.
- Assist senior leaders on major projects in delivering purchasing policy, strategy and planning.
- Assist in delivering the procurement project strategy on all other projects.
- Manage and control procurement of packages or project sectors/areas.
- Prioritise and manage package purchasing.
- Lead and attend procurement related meetings with internal and external parties, including the client, professional team and end user.
- Review main contract conditions and develop sub contract agreements to satisfy them; liaise with the commercial lead.
- Lead procurement of specific infrastructure packages, working with stakeholders to ensure best value and contractual adherence.
- Carry out nominated sub contract procurement, assessing technical, commercial, contractual and delivery requirements.
- Maintain a basic knowledge of standard sub contracts (primarily NEC contracts) and other relevant forms.
- Review capability of reports, arrange training where required, and understand the main contract and its procurement compliance.
- Manage and develop reports, including training, upskilling, performance assessment and appraisal.
- Manage nominated suppliers, maintaining relationships and monitoring trade agreements.
- Monitor and manage quality and QA system adherence.
- Liaise with other departments to provide required input.
- Negotiate purchasing contracts and monitor progress.
- Build future supplier accreditation requirements in line with business needs.
- Administer and produce reports and statistics as directed.
- Negotiate payment terms and manage accounts of selected suppliers.
- Act as liaison between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments and customers.
- Develop market knowledge and contacts for new products/services, identifying potential suppliers.
- Maintain contract files as references for future projects.
- Work closely with the supply chain team, visiting sites and suppliers to align with business objectives.
- Promote the use of internal companies as a primary principle of procurement.
- Assist the supply chain team in monitoring supply chain performance, workload and financial status to protect the corporate position.
