An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to join a high-performing infrastructure delivery team working on a £1bn+ portfolio of live and future projects.
This is a procurement leadership role within a fast-paced environment, offering exposure to major substation and power infrastructure programmes, complex workstreams, and a rapidly expanding pipeline.
Role responsibilities:Reporting into a Senior Procurement Lead, you will take ownership of a critical substation workstream, leading procurement strategy, delivery, and continuous improvement across multiple projects.
You'll manage and develop a team of 5-8 procurement professionals (senior buyers, buyers, and emerging talent), operating in a hands off, strategic, and supportive leadership style, while still being close enough to challenge, influence, and raise standards.
This role also acts as a deputy to the senior procurement leadership, requiring confidence, credibility, and strong stakeholder presence.
Key Responsibilities:- End to end procurement leadership across major substation and power projects
- Managing complex, high value workstreams within a multi project portfolio
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a growing procurement team
- Driving new ways of working and raising expectations of procurement delivery
- Working closely with construction, commercial, and delivery stakeholders
- Embedding best practice supply chain management and governanceSupporting live sites and project teams as required
- A proven procurement leader with strong end to end process expertise
- Experience in power, utilities, infrastructure, or major construction projects
- Substation experience highly desirable (but not essential with relevant exposure)
- Confident managing and influencing senior stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a fast paced, high change environment
- Strong communicator, team player, and natural leader
- Working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts preferred
- Public sector or regulated environment experience advantageous
- Exposure to organisations such as National Grid would be beneficial
- Derby based role (3 days per week on site)
