Salary: £55,000 - £65,000
Location: South East / London
Regions: London, South East
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join a leading Highways and Civil engineering contractor operating across the South East of England. The role involves working around the M25 with options for remote/flexible working.
The ideal candidate will have project procurement management experience and a background in the construction sector, preferably in Highways, though this is not essential.
Responsibilities include:- Developing and implementing the Procurement Strategy throughout the project lifecycle, with regular reviews and updates.
- Managing and delivering the Project Procurement schedules in line with the project plan.
- Leading the Procurement Team for the project.
- Ensuring project requirements are met within agreed timescales.
- Implementing the supply chain strategy for the business.
- Ensuring compliance with the Business Management Systems (BMS).
- Ensuring subcontract documents are robust and well-informed.
- Securing contracts with subcontractors prior to work commencement, ensuring risk mitigation and audit readiness.
- Reviewing subcontracts to ensure they communicate project needs related to safety, environment, technical, schedule, and commercial aspects.
- Supporting strategic work-winning activities by developing new supply chains and capacity planning.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels.
- Experience dealing with subcontractors and suppliers.
- High-level negotiation skills, with advanced negotiation training.
- Understanding of Category Management.
- Ability to build and nurture a team capable of successful tenders/ITTs.
- Knowledge of legal frameworks and contract law.
- Working knowledge of Oracle.
- Ability to understand customer and business needs.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Experience negotiating high-value/high-impact deals.
- Proven track record of delivering positive outcomes and cost savings.
- Experience managing high-value/high-risk tenders/ITTs.
- Experience in formal tender processes and pre-contract administration.
- Senior procurement experience in a large organization.
- MCIPS, degree, or equivalent.
