Job overview

As a key member of the Procurement & Supply Chain Department within the Finance Directorate, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining digital solutions that drive efficiencies, savings, and quality improvements across the organization. You will lead and develop a cross functional team that is dedicated to supporting patient care and operational efficiency. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing data analytics, streamlining reporting functions, and supporting strategic decision making.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead the Procurement Systems team to develop high quality data flows and reporting functions.
  • Design and maintain digital solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of procurement and supply chain data.
  • Develop and enhance self service reports and dashboards for improved internal and external reporting.
  • Oversee data integrity and quality, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual reporting requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging innovative digital solutions and best practices.
  • Manage and maintain key procurement systems, including Atamis, PAM, GHX, NEP, and Ingenica Inventory Management Systems.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Procurement and Supply Chain Systems and Data team, ensuring optimal performance and development.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in strategic projects, supporting the wider transformation of procurement processes.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Strong analytical, managerial, and technical skills with expertise in SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in data management, business intelligence, and system development.
  • A master's degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex data in an understandable manner.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset, capable of identifying and implementing strategic improvements.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
Person specification
  • Must have a relevant IT degree at MSc level or above, or equivalent technical qualification & experience (equivalent experience = Demonstrable experience working in a relevant technical role of sufficient seniority).
  • This role requires the candidate to keep up to date with digital solutions, provide evidence of continued professional development.
  • Excellent IT skills across all packages including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Microsoft Project, Excel.
  • Ability to regularly undertake research and development into data analysis techniques and provide subsequent reports to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable experience of staff management.
  • Working knowledge of the NHS England National Procurement.
