Job Description
We have an opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our London-based client on an initial 6-month rolling contract. The Process Engineer ensures the industrialisation and introduction of new high-reliability products into production (submerge and terrestrial), providing specifications and tooling to ensure products can be reliably and consistently assembled and tested. THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (industrial, production).
  • Ability to make reliability engineering judgments under pressure.
  • Experience in a technical and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in machine and tooling qualifications/validations.
  • Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, HSE regulations.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards (safety, materials, design, etc).
  • Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks, CATIA).
  • Knowledge of quality standards.
  • Organized, disciplined & methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Motivated with strong interpersonal & team skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Potential knowledge of MES, SAP, ERP systems.
JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Design improvement solutions (mechanical assembly process, tools, tooling, manufacturing equipment) using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Manage implementation of step change improvements & new innovations, from initial concept to final handover.
  • Create technical documentation for new equipment/process solutions (mechanical procedures, tooling drawings, manufacturing procedures, etc.) following company standards.
  • Validate tooling, test benches (ergonomics, safety), new processes before manufacturing introduction.
  • Define and monitor project KPIs and budgets.
  • Manage SPR and PO processes.
  • Perform PUWER assessments.
  • Define maintenance strategies for new and existing equipment.
  • Conduct FMEA analyses.
  • Collaborate with R&D to ensure product and process design for manufacturing ease.
  • Evaluate prototypes and provide feedback to improve assembly and design.
  • Design tooling and equipment to simplify assembly.
  • Review and validate contract documentation (drawings, BOM).
  • Participate in NPI meetings, providing inputs and reports.
  • Ensure assembly procedures are approved and issued as per plan.
  • Write build and process specifications for new products.
  • Procure, design, validate, and commission tooling/equipment according to standards and regulations.
  • Define standard build times and maintain Reference Ops.
  • Supervise production during first builds; support start-up and daily operations.
  • Instruct operators, investigate defects, and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and improve production processes for efficiency, quality, HSE, and cost.
  • Conduct process audits and lead Kaizen projects.
  • Collaborate with departments like Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, etc.
