Pro Bono Legal Advisor
Posted 7 days 13 hours ago by STOP THE TRAFFIK Group
Flexible time equivalent to 4 hours/week.
As a lean team, we rely on passionate volunteers to scale our capability and therefore our impact. Right now, we need legal know-how.
Currently, we do not have legal expertise within our day to day team, which can cause delays setting up and negotiating agreements with our global network of partners, and increase our organisational risk without in house legal advice to review the terms of our contracts.
The more efficiently and effectively we can process legal agreements, the more partnerships we can build to gather around our mission to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not stop trafficking alone. This role is critical to helping us continue to grow a network of anti-trafficking champions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tailoring contracts for programme partnerships, client services, and data sharing relationships
- Reviewing feedback and proposed changes from external partners
- Negotiating clauses to protect our charity, particularly around liability, indemnity and data protection
- Advising on best practice in contract structure and wording
- Training the team on our core templates and FAQ's to build internal knowledge to help improve efficiency around legal processes
Person Specification:
- Qualified solicitor, barrister or equivalent legal background
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Familiarity with charity or nonprofit agreements is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication style
- Ability to commit roughly half a day per week
- Ability to translate complex legal topics to accessible and clear language for any audience
- Interest in human rights and preventing modern slavery and human trafficking
We do not require any additional qualifications, rather, candidates must demonstrate previous experience in an environment with transferrable skills to this position. If you do not meet 100% of the above, please consider applying regardless.
