Job Description

On behalf of our client, a well-regarded and expanding law firm with multiple offices across Somerset, we are currently seeking a qualified Solicitor or experienced Legal Executive to join their Family Department on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a legal professional with strong experience in privately funded family matters to become part of a supportive and ambitious team. The successful candidate can be based at any of the firm's Somerset offices, with flexible hybrid working arrangements available.

The Role:

  • Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate will manage a diverse caseload of privately funded family matters, including:
  • Divorce and separation
  • Financial remedy cases
  • Cohabitation and TOLATA matters (non-contentious)
  • Cohabitation agreements and pre-/post-nuptial agreements
  • Private law children matters
  • Domestic abuse cases
  • Occasional representation of clients at court and at other firm locations as needed
  • While experience with Legal Aid is beneficial, it is not essential for this role.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with proven experience in private family law
  • Confident in handling a varied caseload with minimal supervision
  • Personable and professional, with strong client care and communication skills
  • Proactive and organised, able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Capable of representing clients in court and building strong professional relationships
  • Strong advocacy skills and a client-focused approach are essential. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for this role, due to the need to attend different offices and courts on occasion.

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
