Location: Cardiff, Wales - hybrid working module!

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (dependent on experience)

The Role:

I am seeking an experienced personal tax professional to take a leading role within a growing private client tax function. This position offers the chance to guide a high-performing team, oversee the delivery of personal tax compliance work, and help shape a modern, technology-driven approach to client service. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will play a key role in maintaining exceptional standards while supporting process improvements, digital efficiencies, and strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and day-to-day support to members of the personal tax team, encouraging development and high performance.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of personal tax returns and related computations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with current UK tax legislation.
  • Track team output and service standards, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and turnaround times.
  • Handle more complex client matters and support the resolution of technical queries or escalated issues.
  • Build strong relationships with clients by delivering clear, practical, and commercially focused advice.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to identify additional advisory opportunities and contribute to wider business development initiatives.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with internal risk procedures, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Support the continued adoption of digital tools, automation, and smarter ways of working within the tax team.

About You:

  • Professionally qualified in tax or accountancy, or qualified through relevant practical experience (ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical understanding of UK personal tax compliance and associated professional standards.
  • Comfortable mentoring, coaching, and developing junior team members.
  • Able to communicate technical matters clearly to both colleagues and clients.
  • Commercially aware, with the confidence to assist with proposals, fee discussions, and new work opportunities.
  • Organised, detail-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a client-facing environment.
