Private Client Solicitor

Location: Gillingham, Kent
Salary: £45K - £60K FTE dependant on experience
Contract: Full Time or Part Time, Permanent

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Private Client Solicitor to join my client - a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Kent. This role offers the chance to become an integral part of a successful and growing Private Client team, handling a broad range of quality work while building long-term relationships with clients.

The successful candidate will benefit from genuine career progression opportunities, with a clear and realistic route to Partnership within approximately 6-8 years for the right individual. This is an ideal position for someone looking to establish themselves within a supportive firm and take a leading role in the future growth of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of private client matters from instruction through to completion.
  • Drafting Wills, including tax planning and estate planning arrangements.
  • Advising on and preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney.
  • Handling probate and estate administration matters.
  • Advising clients on trusts, trust administration and asset protection.
  • Managing Court of Protection applications and deputyship matters.
  • Providing advice on inheritance tax and succession planning.
  • Supporting elderly and vulnerable clients with later-life planning.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Contributing to business development and networking initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and internal procedures.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years' PQE within Private Client law.
  • Experience handling wills, probate, LPAs and estate administration matters.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Private Client practice.
  • Excellent communication and client care skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

  • STEP qualification or currently working towards STEP accreditation.
  • Experience advising on trusts and trust taxation matters.
  • Experience dealing with Court of Protection work.
  • Established local contacts and referral relationships.
