Private Client Solicitor. Salary: Competitive and based on experience. Location: Birmingham.
What you'll do- Manage your own caseload of private client matters, including handling complex probate cases and basic trust administration with meticulous attention to detail.
- Assist colleagues within the team and wider department by providing support on their cases whenever required, fostering a collaborative approach to client service.
- Advise clients on their financial affairs by taking clear instructions and offering tailored legal guidance that meets their individual needs.
- Travel to meet clients in person when necessary, ensuring that every interaction is handled with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Prepare and file correspondence, notes, and documentation accurately while maintaining comprehensive records for each case.
- Contribute to marketing initiatives by promoting the team's services both internally and externally, helping to build relationships with intermediaries and new contacts.
- Achieve set financial targets and key performance indicators by managing time effectively and prioritising tasks according to deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, deadlines, and quality measures as set out by the firm's standards.
- Work in accordance with the organisation's core values at all times, demonstrating integrity and respect in every aspect of your role.
To excel as a Private Client Solicitor in this role, you will bring not only technical expertise but also empathy and understanding when dealing with clients' most personal legal matters. Your background should include hands-on experience or demonstrable interest in probate work, estate planning for high net worth individuals, or related areas of private client law. You will possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport quickly with clients from diverse backgrounds while maintaining discretion at all times. Your ability to communicate complex information clearly-both face-to-face and through written correspondence-will be crucial for success. A flexible mindset combined with strong organisational capabilities ensures you can adapt seamlessly between independent tasks and collaborative projects. - Qualified solicitor with between newly qualified status up to three years' post-qualification experience (NQ - 3 PQE), ideally gained within private client law.
- Demonstrable interest or experience in all aspects of private client work-particularly complex probate matters and estate planning for high net worth individuals.
- A keen desire to complete the STEP qualification or equivalent professional development relevant to trusts and estates practice.
- Excellent IT skills enabling you to manage digital files efficiently while utilising modern legal technology systems.
- Outstanding communication abilities allowing you to explain complex legal concepts clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Strong organisational skills with proven capability to multi-task effectively under pressure whilst meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise workload independently yet remain responsive to team needs through co-operative working practices.
- Flexible approach towards changing priorities or requirements within the department as business needs evolve.
