Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and forward-thinking Private Client Solicitor to take on a senior leadership role as Head of Department within a well-established and expanding law firm in St Albans. This is a fantastic opportunity for a STEP-qualified Private Client solicitor to build and lead a growing team in a highly strategic and client-facing position. The firm has a long-standing presence in the local community and is now investing significantly in its Private Client services, offering the ideal platform for a senior legal professional to make a lasting impact. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned Private Client Solicitor ready to step into a high-impact leadership role with real autonomy and progression potential.

The Role

  • Lead and develop a new Private Client department with autonomy and vision.
  • Manage a varied caseload including Wills, Probate, Estate Administration, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Court of Protection matters.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff, paralegals, and support team members.
  • Deliver exceptional client care and maintain high professional standards.
  • Drive the growth of the department through strategic planning and business development.
  • Be considered for LLP membership or partnership as part of future career progression.

The Person

  • 10+ years' PQE as a qualified solicitor in Private Client law.
  • STEP qualification (or working towards it).
  • A strong track record in managing complex matters across the full private client spectrum.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience or ambition to lead a team.
  • Excellent communication, client relationship, and mentorship skills.
  • A commercially-minded and proactive approach to building a practice.
